Lesson Plans

Overview

Our lesson plans merge developmental science with critical histories to create opportunities for students to engage in civic discourse around issues of race and justice in the United States. All materials were selected for their connection to current events, with an emphasis on race in America.

Elementary school materials are standalone lessons with scaffolded writing prompts. Middle and high school units are modeled after the College, Career and Civic Life (C3) Inquiry Framework. The middle and high school inquiry units challenge students to work collaboratively in making connections between the past and present. Every lesson, across grade levels, includes developmentally appropriate discussion questions around lesson topics. They also have culminating civic engagement activities for students.
