Kristan McCullum

Kristan McCullum is a doctoral student in the Social Foundations of Education program under Professor Derrick Alridge.

Born and raised in Southeastern Kentucky, she earned her bachelor’s degree (2011) from the University of Kentucky and her master’s degree (2015) from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she spent five years working in education in the Mississippi Delta. Her research interests include Southern educational history and culture, with a focus on the relationship between rural schools and their communities.
